Glomerular Disease Affects The Functions Of The Kidney

The glomerular disease destroys the glomeruli resulting into the protein and the red blood cells drip into the urine. Many times the glomerular disease also affects the removal of harmful waste products by the kidney. Hence they start getting gathered in the blood. Moreover, if blood proteins like albumin gets lost in the urine then it can affect into a loss of level inside the bloodstream. For a normal blood, the albumin reacts like a sponge. These take up the excess fluid from the body into the bloodstream. Here this is accumulated until the kidney itself removes this out. When the albumin leaks into the urine, the blood losses its capability to take up the excess fluid from the body. These fluids can get gathered up outside the circulatory system on the face and hand, feet and ankles and can result in swelling of these parts of the body.

Symptoms

The main symptoms of glomerular disease are:-

  • Proteinuria- Accumulation of huge amount of proteins in the urine.
  • Hematuria – Presence of blood inside the urine.
  • Reduced Glomerular Filtration Rate- Useless filtering of the harmful wastes from the blood.
  • Hypoproteinemia - Low level of protein in the blood.
  • Edema- Parts of the body gets enlarged.

Amongst these symptoms one or more can be showing the first stages of a kidney disease. It is very common that without seeing a doctor you can never know whether these are present in the body. However many of these symptoms show some signs or some visible signs like:-

  • The Proteinuria can cause foam in the urine.
  • The color of the urine can turn pink or cola colored.
  • There can be visible signs of Edema in the hands and the ankles. Maybe at the end of the day you can find that presence around the eyes and when you get up in the morning also.
